For many anglers, the idea of casting a rod on their holiday or vacation is pretty desirable. It’s not surprising, as fishing on new, unknown water is always fun. In foreign countries you will find fish species that you will never encounter in the UK, and any real angler couldn’t possibly resist giving it a try. Due to their length, fishing rods are rather awkward objects to take with you on holiday, especially when you travel by plane. A travel rod is the solution! Travel fishing rods are compact and have a short transport length. Often, travel fishing rods are telescopic or consist of several sections. Most travel rods are four-piece, but there are also variants that consist of even more, smaller sections. Most travel fishing rods can easily fit in your suitcase or backpack!

Sea fishing rods

When fishing abroad, it is often at sea. It is therefore important that your set-up can withstand the influence of salt water. Fortunately, most travel rods are nowadays suitable for use in salt water. However, it is always advisable to rinse the rod and reel under the tap or shower after fishing in salt water. A travel rod for saltwater is often a little heavier in casting weight than travel rods for use in fresh water.

Carp travel rods

Carp fishing rods are normally around 3.60 metres long and consist of two parts. The transport length of these rods is therefore over 1.80 metres – not particularly convenient to take with you on holiday. Fortunately, there are also travel rods for carp on the market. These rods are often three or four-piece and are therefore a lot more compact than a normal carp rod. A popular new carp rod model is one where the lower part is telescopic and the rest of the rod consists of sections that fit together. This way you can fish with a carp rod of normal size, but you can transport it very compactly.
