It is rare to be at a fishing spot where the surface is neatly paved and clean. Often the edge of the water is swampy, muddy or sandy and you do not want to end up in this with your good shoes. Many anglers therefore choose fishing boots. A fishing boot is easy to clean after fishing and you can even walk a little into the water with such a boot. For carp anglers who lie in their bivvy waiting for their bite detectors to start screaming, fishing boots are perfect. You can put these on in no time at all when you have a bite.
An extra advantage of fishing boots is that they are nice and warm, in the cold months of the year you don't want to sit on the bank with cold feet. Really good fishing boots that are meant for winter fishing have a good, warm lining that keeps your feet warm. If you don't move around much when fishing, you might want to choose one size bigger than you normally wear, so you can add an extra pair of thick socks. You can even choose to put heat elements inside the boot.
There are a number of things to consider when choosing the right fishing boot. For example, if you want to buy boots for the summer period, you will naturally choose a less warm model than if you are looking for something for the cold sessions. You also need to determine whether you will be using the boots a lot for active fishing or static fishing. If you have to walk a lot in the boots then comfort is of greater importance than when you are sitting still on the bank. The sole of the boot is also important, a good profile provides more grip. Do you want to be able to walk deeper into the water? Maybe a set of gaiters or booted waders is a good choice!
