Ok More infoWhen you go fishing for carp, a good landing net is a must-have. In the UK, it is compulsory in many places to have certain landing tools and landing aids with you when fishing. This includes a landing net and an unhooking mat, which makes landing carp very practical. Using a landing net the fish can be lifted out of the water very easily. As carp can be extremely heavy, a landing net must be stable and robust. But that is just one point to keep in mind when buying a landing net.
There are a number of points to consider when buying. An important point is of course the size. Always choose a net that is too large rather than one that is too small. This way, the fish can escape from the net less quickly and it is also less stressful for the fish when it has more space. Most carp anglers choose a carp net with a separate shaft. These are lightweight and the shaft can easily be removed from the net after landing. When carp fishing always choose a soft net. Rubber nets protect the skin and the scales of the fish. In addition, they are also waterproof and therefore do not absorb any unpleasant odours from moisture or any bacteria in the water.
Scoop nets that are easy to take with you are collapsible scoop nets. In general, a scoop net should never be overloaded. Otherwise, there is a risk that the handle will break or bend or that other types of damage will occur. If a very heavy fish has been caught, the net should never be lifted like a fishing rod, straight up. Always lift the net towards you. This protects the handle and also prevents the fish from jumping out of the net easily.
